Our client deals with cable installation in wind farms all over the world.
The cables that enter the monopiles and structures need to be protected from everyday environmental use and abuse. In the normal conditions this is the currents that whirl around the monopile or structure. In extreme conditions this is a storm or typhoon that rocks the wind turbine and foundation. The cable will be protected by a cable protection system that gives the cable a lifetime of 25 years.
The CPS specialist has an overall knowledge of subsea power cable installation for offshore wind farms, O&G platforms or similar. The CPS specialist has a specific knowledge of Cable Protection Systems and is the point of contact for questions about the designand functionality of the various systems offered in the market.
The CPS specialist has worked with Tekmar, Seaproof Systems, Balmoral, CRP, etc., has seen the installation of the systems in person and has a personal opinion on the design of the various systems.
What we ask for
- The CPS specialist has a BSC or MSc degree in a technical or electrical study, such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering (with minor on Offshore techniques of sea defense) or Electrical Engineering.
- Besides the educational level, the CPS specialist has a 5 to 7 year work experience in the offshore sector and, at least, 2 year experience with CPS.
- The experience includes design of CPS, functionality, installation & removal and understanding the analyses. Being able to create analyses or calculations is a bonus.
Other competencies of the CPS specialist are:
- Familiar with the processes of engineering a project. This may include:
- Writing procedures
- Reviewing procedures
- Assigning drawing orders to a draughtsman and reviewing drawing
- Explain in clear wording the project scopes
- Create registers for different CPS suppliers
- Knowledge of MS Office.
- Knowledge of Python is a bonus.
- The numbers of years’ experience for the seniority of the role.
- Has an own opinion but is able to listen to others as well.
- Willing to travel.
- Speaks the English language fluently and can write reports in the English language.
